Matahari Sakti : Unifying Multi-Brand Portfolios for Global Feed Manufacturers
Connecting Well-Accepted Product Brands to Drive Parent Company Equity
Brand strategy, corporate identity, architecture, and packaging for Indonesia's number one aquaculture feed producer.
Matahari Sakti had built something most companies spend decades chasing: a portfolio of market-leading brands. Its aquaculture feed products dominated the B2B segment. Its pet fish and pet food lines were widely purchased. The problem was structural, every brand stood alone. Nobody buying MS products knew they were buying MS products. The company was generating commercial success across three distinct categories while its own corporate name collected no equity from any of it.
For a Surabaya-based manufacturer with export ambitions across the Philippines, Malaysia, and South Korea, that invisibility had a real cost. In B2B aquaculture, procurement decisions involve corporate credibility checks, buyers want to know who is behind the product, what the manufacturer's track record is, whether the company will still be there in five years. A portfolio of strong product brands with no visible parent company answers none of those questions. In retail pet food, the same logic applies differently: a recognised corporate owner signals quality assurance and accountability to the end consumer.
Komunikasia developed the brand strategy, corporate identity, brand architecture, and packaging system across all three lines, aquaculture feed for fish farms, ornamental fish feed for retail consumers, and dog and cat food. The architecture solution connected each product brand visibly to the MS master brand without dismantling the individual brand equities that had taken years to build in their respective markets. MS became the endorsing corporate presence across the entire portfolio, the name that told a Philippine aquaculture buyer or a Malaysian pet food distributor who was accountable for what they were purchasing.
The packaging redesign brought visual coherence across categories that had previously operated as separate businesses. Aquafeed sacks, retail fish feed packaging, and pet food formats now carried a unified corporate signal while maintaining product-level differentiation appropriate to each buyer type and channel.
The outcome:
Matahari Sakti is now widely recognised as the corporate owner of Indonesia's number one aquaculture feed brands, a reputation the company had earned through its products for years but had never claimed for itself.
